Have questions about HappyFeet Seattle? We've compiled answers to frequently asked questions about our all-weather leagues, school programs, and Parks & Recreation partnerships. Visit www.happyfeetseattle.com for more information.

What age groups does HappyFeet Seattle serve?

HappyFeet Seattle welcomes children ages 2-9 years old across various programs. We offer Parent & Me classes for 2-year-olds, HappyFeet School Classes for ages 2-6, Spring League for ages 2-8, Winter All Weather League for ages 3-9, Future Legends for ages 7-9, and Black & Yellow Academy for U7-U10 (ages 6-9).

What does 'all-weather' league mean?

Our Winter All Weather League runs rain or shine! Seattle's rainy weather won't stop the fun. We only cancel if temperatures drop below freezing or if there's snow on the field. Kids learn to play in typical Seattle conditions, which builds resilience and ensures consistent skill development throughout winter months.

How much do HappyFeet Seattle programs cost?

Pricing varies by program. As reference points: Spring League (6 weeks) is $179, Winter All Weather League ranges from $119-$169 depending on age, Black & Yellow Academy is $219, and neighborhood classes through Parks & Recreation range from $75-$180. Visit our website or contact us for current pricing on all programs.

Where are HappyFeet Seattle programs held?

We operate throughout the Greater Seattle Area including North Seattle, Ballard, Mountlake Terrace, Lynnwood, Mill Creek, Everett, Lake Stevens, Snoqualmie, Edmonds, and Magnuson. Programs are held at various locations including partner daycare/preschools, Parks & Recreation facilities, and fields like Crown Hill, Colman, Sandel Park, and Jimi Hendrix Park.

What is the Parent & Me class?

Parent & Me classes are designed for our youngest players (2-year-olds) who benefit from caregiver participation. Parents actively participate in the class alongside their toddler, providing comfort and encouragement while children learn basic soccer skills through songs, games, and age-appropriate activities.

How does the partnership with Seattle Parks & Recreation work?

HappyFeet Seattle partners with Seattle Parks & Recreation and Edmonds Parks & Recreation to offer neighborhood classes at community centers throughout the area. Registration for these programs is typically done through the Parks District registration system. Check the Parks & Recreation catalog or our website for current offerings.

What is the Black & Yellow Academy?

Black & Yellow Academy is our advanced skills development program for ages U7-U10 (6-9 years old). It focuses on competitive skills training with more intensive coaching while maintaining the fun, supportive HappyFeet atmosphere. Perfect for children ready to take their soccer to the next level.

What is the Future Legends program?

Future Legends is our next-level training for ages 7-9. It bridges the gap between our foundational HappyFeet programs and more competitive soccer. Children learn advanced techniques, tactical concepts, and game strategy while building on the creativity and confidence developed in earlier HappyFeet programs.

Do you offer school-based programs?

Yes! We partner with numerous daycares and preschools throughout the Seattle area including Kids N Us locations, Primrose, Kiddie Academy, Mini Einstein's, Trike Stop, Smart Start, and many others. Our mobile program brings HappyFeet directly to children during their regular school day.

What should my child wear to HappyFeet Seattle classes?

For Seattle's all-weather programs, dress your child in layers with rain gear for outdoor sessions. Waterproof jacket, athletic pants or rain pants, and closed-toe athletic shoes or rain boots work great. For indoor programs, comfortable athletic clothing and indoor shoes. We provide all soccer balls and equipment. Always bring a water bottle.

Do parents need to stay during classes?

For Parent & Me classes (2-year-olds), yes - parent participation is required and encouraged! For school-based programs at daycares, no parent participation is needed. For neighborhood classes and leagues, parents can drop off older children (4+) though you're welcome to watch. For younger children (2-3), we recommend staying nearby initially.

Can my child participate if they've never played soccer?

Absolutely! The majority of HappyFeet Seattle participants have never played soccer before. Our programs are designed for beginners and introduce skills gradually through fun, engaging activities. We meet each child at their current skill level and help them progress at their own pace.

What happens if my child misses a class or game?

Makeup class policies vary by program type. For Parks & Recreation programs, consult their specific policies. For our direct-enrollment programs, contact us to discuss makeup options. We understand that children get sick and schedules change, and we'll work with you when possible.

Are programs offered year-round?

Yes! HappyFeet Seattle offers year-round programming. We have Spring League (outdoor), Winter All Weather League (outdoor rain-or-shine), school-based programs throughout the school year, and various neighborhood classes through Parks & Recreation. There's always an opportunity for your child to play soccer!

How do progressive small-sided games work?

We use small-sided games (3v3, 4v4) rather than full 11v11 soccer. This ensures every child touches the ball frequently, has more opportunities to score, makes more decisions, and stays actively engaged. As children develop, we progressively increase field size and team size to match their growing abilities.

Which daycares and preschools partner with HappyFeet Seattle?

We partner with numerous locations including A World Discovery Montessori, Country Dawn, Journey School Lynnwood, Kiddie Academy Snoqualmie, multiple Kids N Us locations (Mill Creek, Everett, Lake Stevens, Soper Hill), Mini Einstein's, Primrose Mill Creek, Smart Start, Trike Stop, and Ballard Boys & Girls Club. Contact us to see if your child's school is a partner.

How do I register for HappyFeet Seattle programs?

Registration methods vary by program type. For Parks & Recreation programs, register through their online system or catalog. For school-based programs at partner daycares, ask your school's director. For direct-enrollment programs (leagues, academies), visit www.happyfeetseattle.com to register online.

What is the typical class size?

We maintain small coach-to-player ratios to ensure quality instruction. Most classes have 8-12 children per coach. Smaller programs like Black & Yellow Academy may have smaller groups for more intensive training. This ensures each child receives personalized attention while benefiting from group dynamics.

What's the weather cancellation policy?

For our All Weather League, we only cancel if temperatures are below freezing or snow is on the field - otherwise we play rain or shine! For other outdoor programs, we cancel for lightning, severe weather, or unsafe field conditions. You'll be notified via email or phone as early as possible. Indoor programs run regardless of weather.

Are HappyFeet Seattle coaches background checked?

Yes, all HappyFeet Seattle coaches undergo comprehensive background checks and are trained in age-appropriate coaching techniques for young children. Safety, positive youth development, and creating a fun, nurturing environment are our top priorities.
